Content sits at the heart of our business and is headed up by Chief Content Officer, Helen Jackson. Helen drives the creative and commercial vision for our content strategy as well as the editorial framework of its channels.
Working closely with BBC Production, now BBC Studios, as well as our own production companies and independent production houses, the team ensures that we have a rich and varied catalogue of titles by managing the company’s investment into programmes. As well as buying in finished programmes, the team also includes a wealth of expertise in the production and commissioning field, as well as responsibility for creating formats from the UK to our production studios in France, Norway, India and the USA. Our content team also plays a pivotal role in nurturing new talent both on and off screen while exploring new commercial ideas and opportunities. New development schemes, including the Paper to Pitch fund, aids the development of new formats.
We work with over 250 UK independent production companies, showcasing their content across the globe as well as holding equity stakes in a number of indies such as Greenbird Media and LookOut Point.
We invest in high quality, premium titles such as War and Peace and The Hunt. Forthcoming investments include The Collection, Top of the Lake 2 and Earth: One Amazing Day (w/t).
