Eyewitness: The 1980s
Conflict in many forms characterised the 1980s: war in the South Atlantic, the miners' strike, social unrest and political polarisation. By 1981, unemployment had escalated dramatically and Margaret Thatcher's popularity had plummeted. Victory in the Falklands revived Tory fortunes, but the unpopularity of the Labour Party also helped. The IRA's Brighton bomb nearly wiped out Thatcher and her cabinet, and stunned the public. But throughout these years, there were moments of celebration. Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer in July 1981, and England won the Ashes that summer. The decade ended on a note of hope: reform in the Soviet Union spread outwards and in 1989 the Berlin Wall fell. The Cold War was over.

It's That Man Again
For the first time on CD, you can enjoy four historic shows from this popular 1940s radio series. Tommy Handley kept the nation laughing during the darkest hours of the Second World War and the lean years that followed. On these CDs you can hear many of the favourite characters played by Tommy, Jack Train, Dorothy Summers, Fred Yule, Hattie Jacques and Derek Guyler. The episodes are: Navy (13 January 1944), RAF (17 February 1944), Army (13 April 1944), Royal Command Show (4 December 1947).

Ross Noble Goes Global: Series 2
This brilliant new BBC Radio 4 series of comedy travelogues is presented by award-winning stand-up and Just a Minute regular Ross Noble. In the first episode, Ross travels to Brussels - a city with a reputation a little on the dull side. But he soon finds out that with chocolate on every corner, a puzzling statue of an incontinent child, and the honour of being associated with the always-exciting Jean-Claude Van Damme, Brussels might be his kind of city after all. Half hilarious comedy routines, half cultural observations, these shows are both a tempting taster of the cities he visits and a perfect opportunity to spend some time in the wacky, whimsical, fantastically funny world of Ross Noble.

Sherlock Holmes full-cast dramatisations are now available singly on CD. Previously, these titles were only available in the boxed set but now you can pick and choose from this extraordinary collection that dramatises the full BBC canon of Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories and novels.

The BBC Radio Collection project involved publishing, for what we believe to be the first time on audio, all the Arthur Conan Doyle stories and novels featuring Holmes and Watson. The series has the same team of directors, producers, dramatisers and leading actors - Clive Merrison as Holmes and Michael Williams as Watson. Acclaim for the series has been widespread: 'A remarkable undertaking - the dramatisation of all 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories. Applauding them, and particularly Clive Merrison's Holmes, made my hands sore.' Peter Davalle, The Times.

The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Clive Merrison and Andrew Sachs star in four brand-new cases created by the chief dramatist of the original BBC Radio 4 Sherlock Holmes canon. Bert Coules fleshes out these previously elusive cases, mentioned only briefly in Arthur Conan Doyle's writings: The Madness of Colonel Warburton, The Star of the Adelphi, The Saviour of Cripplegate Square and The Singular Inheritance of Miss Gloria Wilson.
