Sales & Distribution

BBC Worldwide's Sales & Distribution business (S&D) is
one of the world's most successful exporters of finished television
programmes, second only to the big US studios. In 10/11 the Sales
& Distribution business licensed around 74,000 hours of
programming to over 690 customers around the world.
The business is driving growth across all digital platforms
selling more than 9,000 hours of programming in the last financial
year. Torchwood, Top Gear and Doctor
Who, for example, all hit the #1 spot on iTunes Top TV Seasons
Charts in the US.
Sales & Distribution secures vital funding for new
productions, such as Sir Tom Stoppard's adaptation of Parade's
End and Fresh Pictures first drama production Spies of
Warsaw for the BBC. The division was also rated the top UK
distributor by Indies in Televisual's 2011 survey.
The business manages the annual BBC Worldwide Showcase festival,
a shop window for the best of British programming, which attracts
around 640 buyers from across the globe every year. Broadcasters
are able to watch hundreds of hours of quality programming and snap
up the latest titles from BBC Worldwide's catalogue. Click here to

See the online BBC
Worldwide catalogue of television programmes for more on the
wide range of programming available. The catalogue has programming
across all genres from drama and comedy to factual and
formats.
Whether it is a Spooks sale to Russia, The Vicar of
Dibley to Kazakhstan or adaptations of Charles Dickens'
classics to China, the sales teams find new audiences for the UK's
best loved programming.
The Sales & Distribution business is positioned to best
serve its global clients and has around 170 staff in 11
offices.
