Totalling approximately 35 people, Application Operations comprises a number of teams who provide application support for BBCW's most critical business processing systems as well as managing application hosting. The teams work closely with other technology teams as well as BBCW's business areas to ensure operational availability and expert application support for key systems.
Application Operations are interested in receiving CV's from skilled operations and support technicians with experience in the following backgrounds: technology operations management, webmastering (.net, windows and java, Linux), DBA (SQL Server & Oracle), broadcast scheduling systems, financial systems (royalties systems, SAP & BW, business intelligence) and second & third line support for enterprise business systems software.
Caspar
Provide first & second line application support for Alliant, a third party enterprise software package used by BBC Worldwide to manage royalty payments to BBCW artists and contributors. This is a crucial service which underpins the activities of BBCW's Talent Accounting division. CASPAR work extremely closely with Talent Accounting, the Technology operations team and the Alliant system development team based in Los Angeles. The system has a number of critical interfaces to systems managed by both the BBC and BBCW.
Financial Systems
Financial Systems manage all operational application support for BBCW's financial systems, including SAP & BW. Operating within a global, multi company environment, the team are responsible for ensuring the availability and integrity of these critical services, operating closely with both business based finance customers as well as central Technology teams including development and Central IT operations teams.
Web Operations
The WebOps team are responsible for managing hosted application services. The team work with a broad variety of internal and externally based development teams and provide webmastering, application and DBA operational expertise for Microsoft (SQL Server, .Net and IIS), Java/Oracle/Apache Tomcat and LAMP technologies. WebOps work with a number of hosting providers both internally and externally providing a fully managed hosting service. In the last 12 months BBCW has made significant investment into Microsoft SharePoint and BizTalk technologies with the WebOps team providing application support for these platforms.
Broadcast Channels Systems
Provide application and wider technology support for broadcasting scheduling systems and their interfaces as used by BBC Worldwide's Channels businesses, including IBMS, Landmark, OnAir and PRESET.
