BBC Prime and BBC Japan
Established entertainment channel BBC Prime is available
in 21m subscriber homes in more than 100 countries,
and is subtitled in 12 languages. This year BBC Prime became
available in Asia for the first time, launching into Hong Kong
and Thailand with local-language subtitles. BBC Japan, a
similar general entertainment channel subtitled in Japanese,
was also launched. BBC Worldwide will be building on these
developments in the coming year by identifying further
markets for BBC Prime-style channels.
BBC Food
This specialist channel delivered to budget and launched
successfully in the Middle East on one of the main pay-TV platforms, Showtime.
