In spite of an extremely tough year for the industry, BBC Worldwide has once again achieved record results.

BBC Worldwide’s sales from continuing operations rose to £640 million. Our profit before interest and tax rose to £32 million, and profit from continuing operations rose to £44 million. We made a record investment in BBC programmes, and returned an impressive £123 million cash flow contribution to the BBC. This is an increase of 16% on the previous year, itself a record.
How have we done this in such challenging times?

We’ve built on our position as a successful international media player, gaining a presence in more countries and territories than ever before. We have followed our well-established multiple media strategy – taking single ideas successfully across many different formats. We have developed innovative business partnerships around the world. We’ve made the most of what new technologies can offer. We have leveraged the power that our television sales and increasing channel distribution generates for us. We’ve brought all our creativity to developing and marketing products that delight customers everywhere – so much so, that we’ve won a record 106 industry awards.

What happens to the money we earn?
