The BBC aims to be a world-beating organisation and in 2002/03 BBC Worldwide proved the point in style by winning a record 106 awards, up from 84 the previous year.

The high point came with the news, at the end of last year, that BBC Worldwide had won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. The award is given for three years and is based on the strength of the company’s export performance in international television. In order to achieve the award, BBC Worldwide had to prove best practice across all areas of company activity, including its impact on society and on the environment.
A number of the awards won during the year were outside the media sector, which meant that BBC Worldwide was competing against other high achievers from across the whole of British business. The BBC also emerged as Britain’s greatest export in an opinion poll conducted by Parcelforce amongst British business people.
